Pinwheel’s Human-First AI Policy
Yes, AI is changing the way creative agencies work. It can summarize research, organize messy input, and spot patterns all faster than you can say “chatbot.” But AI is a tool. Humans are the talent. And talent is what clients are paying for.
At Pinwheel, we use AI thoughtfully to accelerate our work. It’s a sharp assistant, but not the author of the work. Taste, empathy, lived experience, strategy, and judgment still sit squarely in human hands (and heads and guts). We bring the soul. Machines just bring speed.
What we use AI for:
- Research and synthesis, with human fact-checking
- Brainstorming, inspiration, and breaking creative ruts
- Structuring info: turning spaghetti ideas into lasagna
- Moodboarding and mockup roughs (not final visuals)
- Helping us to explore different “idea territory”
What we don’t use it for:
- Drafting first-pass copy (blech)
- Delivering unedited, AI-generated work to clients
- Inputting sensitive client data into public tools
- Replacing judgment, originality, or taste
- Slop (a.k.a. filler content that feels like filler content)
Some common sense rules we follow:
- Humans own the work entirely
- We fact-check. Every time. Even the “obvious” stuff.
- We stay original
- We keep your data safe. No sensitive info goes into AI tools.
- We trust our instincts. If a result feels off, we don’t use it. Full stop.
Why we care:
Because marketing is about emotion and connection, not just data and conversion. Because originality still wins hearts (and market share). And because we believe great creative is crafted by hand, not churned out by robots.
Will the line between human and machine blur in the future? Probably. But for now, you can rest easy knowing everything we deliver has been shaped by real people who know what good looks like, and care about making it.
